A CUBAN ‘doctor’ has been arrested by National Police after claiming to be an official licensed cardiologist and obtaining appointments in private clinics in Valencia.
The 44-year-old posted on his website portfolio that he was a specialist in different medical disciplines, in particular pharmacology, cardiology and in performing stress tests. He also claimed to be working in two hospitals and a private clinic in Valencia
He was reported by one of his alleged clients who reported him for professional intrusion. The authorities investigated the man’s background and found claims on his personal portfolio that he had studied and obtained a license in the University of Valencia. The police found that he had no such qualifications or university degree in Spain.
He also did not own any official approval certificate, either in Spain or from any other EU member state. According to police sources, the lack of any present witness statements however prevents him from being tried for professional intrusion and can only be tried under the lesser offence of criminal fraud.
