OPPOSITON: Protests against the bullfight in Palma continued on Monday CREDIT: EWN
THE bullfight that is scheduled to take place at the Coliseo Balear tomorrow (Friday, August 9) was met with more protests on Monday.
Members of the animal rights group, Assaib, gathered outside the town hall in Plaza Cort in Palma to demand that the bullfight be called off. A spokesperson for the group said that they will continue to campaign against the bullfight until the town hall recognises that it is in violation of Balearic legislation.
Another animal rights group, AnimaNaturalis, have stated that the bullfight is in breach of several conditions such as the entrance of minors to the fight, anti-doping procedures and several alterations to the arena. It is also reported that inspectors have been unable to conduct the relevant inspections of the facility until recently which has been deemed a “very serious infraction”. It is unclear what the outcome of the protest will be.
