ENVIRONMENTAL group Ecologistas en Acción Mijas has hit out at plans to allocate 1,078,524 sqm of land to a new golf course project.
The Valle del Golf project includes a golf course, a five-star hotel, an equestrian centre and 296 apartments in the Entrerrios area.
Now the group has pointed out that the plans call for rustic land to be used for the complex despite the fact that the municipality that already has 12 golf courses.
In a statement the group said it regrets that Mijas and the Junta de Andalucía are committed to using the “same unsustainable model of the past.”
It adds: “The Administration has not understood that we are in an environmental and climatic emergency and that this project is a step backwards in environmental policies.”
It adds that the land selected would be better used for ecological agriculture.
