THE National Police have arrested a 23-year-old woman who allegedly left her son, 4, at home for more than 24 hours while she went “partying” in Malaga.
The situation came to the police’s attention after the woman was arrested at around 8am on July 28, for allegedly being involved in a violent altercation with another woman. A fight had broken out in the Paseo del Parque de la capital between several people. After some of the parties involved had fled, the officers arrived on the scene and arrested the 23-year-old and took her into custody.
At the same time, officers were called to a house following reports from neighbours that a child was crying and had been left alone. The police gained entry to the locked house and took care of the child.
Investigations into the two crimes led the authorities to determine that the woman apparently involved in the street attack was the same person who had left her son alone in the apartment. The young mum is now awaiting trial for abandonment of minors, crimes of injury and attempted crimes of injury against an officer.
