AN 11-year-old boy has been killed after being run over in the town of Congosto de Valdavia in the region of Palencia.
The boy was riding his bike down the P-225 road in town on Wednesday afternoon. When he got to the crossroads of Baños de la Pena he was knocked off his bicycle by a car travelling in the opposite direction. Police are investigating the events leading up to the fatal accident but as of yet the cause of the crash has not been revealed.
The emergency services were immediately alerted to the incident and they despatched an air ambulance, two ambulances from the Guardo Health Centre, the Guardia Civil and the traffic police.
Paramedics tried to resuscitate the child but were unsuccessful.
