Father kills son and commits suicide in eastern Spain

A 41-YEAR-OLD man has killed himself after stabbing his 16 year old son to death and seriously wounding his wife in Aragon.

The man threw himself out of the family’s fourth story apartment window in Teruel City after assaulting his wife and son.

He survived the fall and was taken to the Alcañiz hospital but was pronounced dead soon after his arrival, according to local authority sources.

His 39-year-old wife was airlifted by helicopter to the Miguel Servet Hospital in Zaragoza City with serious injuries.

The ongoing police investigation revealed there was no history of violence in the family. The wife of the murderer has another daughter from a previous relationship who is 19 years old.

The killing is one of 37 other cases of murder within families this year. Of those cases, one third of the perpetrators committed suicide after killing or fatally wounding a family member.
