The UK recently had a shake-up of its laws regarding how gambling companies could advertise on their shores. Most of these laws leaned towards changes regarding younger viewers. Specifically, they make sure that younger people are not exposed to gambling adverts and are not made to appeal to younger viewers. Casinos and gambling companies are also not allowed to feature young characters in their marketing materials. The need to keep young audiences safe from gambling irresponsibly is crucial and a high priority after a spike of younger people developing gambling problems. This can be done by making sure that those of us who do gamble, do so only when we are knowledgeable and wise enough to understand what we are doing, as well as the value of money. Hence why there are strict age restrictions on gambling. Here we will take a look at those gambling age restrictions around the world.
Canadians have access to some of the best online casinos in the world. Locals can choose from a wide selection of new and innovative games. If you don’t believe us go online and check out RoyalVegas casino and see the high-caliber games for yourself. However, you’ll only be able to enjoy the games at this Canadian casino if you are 19 years old. There are some exceptions which differ by state. Quebec, Alberta and Manitoba will allow 18-year-olds to gamble.
The stance on gambling between European countries can differ significantly. On the one hand, Spain is very strict on gambling while those relaxed Italians are a little less rigid when it comes to making gambling laws. Yet, despite some differences in stances most European countries take the same approach when it comes to implementing gambling age restrictions. For the most part, you will need to be 18 years old to gamble in a European country – with some exceptions. Belgium, Ireland and Belgium are a little stricter and make gambling an illegal activity for anyone under the age of 21 years old. But these aren’t the European countries with the strictest laws regarding the issue. Greece has an age restriction of 23 years old while Portugal is the most conservative. You will need to be 25 or over to gamble on the Algarve.
The USA is made up of different states that govern their own gambling laws, and this includes setting age restrictions on gambling. Between US states these restrictions can range from 18 to 23. However, there may be other laws in place. For example, gambling in Alabama with a minor in your presence is considered an offence. You must gamble alone or with other adults.
Whatever age you gamble at, make sure you are doing it legally or you may not even get your winnings. Better yet… No matter your age from 21 to 101 – always gamble responsibly!
