QUENTIN Tarantino’s new movie starring Leonardo di Caprio and Brad Pitt has broken Spanish box office records in its first weekend, pushing animated film, Pets 2 off the top spot.
According to still provisional data from ComScoreMovies, the two and a half hour long movie grossed €2,164,377 in its first weekend. That total rises to €3,253,679 if you include takings from its premier on August 15.
Globally the film has taken so far a total of $180.5 million (€162.7 million), the majority of which taken in the USA and Canada. The new movie is on course to break the record for the highest grossing Tarantino movie of all time, with his 2012 western Django Unchained taking a total of $425.4 million (383.481 million) worldwide.
