A big thanks to Jack in La Cala de Mijas

WHEN Jack McDonnell put together a football event to raise money for charity he approached the Lions Club of La Cala de Mijas to help him achieve his dream.

He had chosen them because of all the wonderful work they do for the local community and he knew the money would go to a good cause.

With the help of the Club and the Town Hall the event raised over €1,000. The Lions recently presented Jack with a certificate of appreciation for all his hard work and as proof of what he had done for his university degree.

A Lion’s spokesman said: “Jack and the Lions symbolise what working for our local community can achieve.  Helping others to help themselves and looking out for each other is something that we all can do.

“We are all amazed at how much suffering is on our own doorstep. Jack is a beacon of hope that there are still young people out there who do care about their local community and want to give something back. What a wonderful community we have here.”

The La Cala de Mijas Lions next event is on Sept 8 from12.30 to 6pm. Have a fun afternoon at the Valparaiso restaurant. Go along and support them and have a fantastic three course lunch with canapes and cava, wine, beer and soft drinks, plus coffee and liquors. Entertainment will be by the amazing Laura Elen.
