THE areas of El Penoncillo and Calaceite have been given the go ahead for some of the most important transformation works in their history in a new announcement by the Ayuntamiento of Torrox. A budget of around €300,000 has been invested into the plan which is at the tender stages for a complete transformation of the infrastructure of the two areas by the Torrox Council. The first phase of the project is to improve the lighting facilities throughout Torrox to meet with current standards. The new lighting will also be installed along a large stretch of the N-340 that runs through the area. Alongside this, a new roundabout will be constructed in Calaceite to help with traffic management. This latest undertaking by the Torrox government is coinciding with the major refurbishment works of the Lithoral Path that’s runs through to Nerja, with an estimated total budget of €2 million, is set to transform a long forgotten area of the Axarquia coastline.
