15,000 people turn out for Benidorm Pride Credit: Benidorm Pride Facebook Barry Duke
The “Benidorm Pride Festival” was a huge success with over 15,000 people going along to join the celebrations.
Throughout the week there have been all kinds of parties and shows to showcase the local talent with British people making up the majority of the participants.
The organisers, Jeff Gartland and Santos Torres, highlighted the Benidorm Pride Festival began with just over 300 attendees and now in its ninth year has welcomed over 15,000 people.
They also highlighted the evolution in terms of nationalities: “We have gone from a ratio of 90-10 in favour of attendees of other nationalities to a 60-40. Spaniards come more and more, but in the percentage of visitors from outside the British account for 70 per cent”.
