UPDATE: Rojales Golf Course under water

THE popular Marquesa golf course in Rojales on the outskirts of Alicante has been flooded amongst some of the heaviest rain that the province has seen for many years.

Videos show the fairways and bunkers submerged under almost three feet of water as flooding engulfs the Alicante area.

The Policia Local has started to evacuate the local residents of Rojales as the authorities have issued a warning that the Rio Segura that runs through the area is likely to burst its banks.

The river is already at its capacity and with more rain forecast, the water level is likely to rise above the banks and spill onto the roads.
