THE Guardia Civil have announced that a sixth person has been killed in the storms sweeping Spain
The latest victim was announced in Orihuela, one of the areas most affected by the extreme weather.
The first victims of the torrential rain were a 61-year-old man and his sister, 51, who were swept away in their vehicle on Thursday 12 September in the Caudete area south of Valencia.
Two days later, a middle aged man was killed in Almeria after his car was trapped in a flooded tunnel.
A second Almeria man was pronounced dead later that day after his vehicle was taken by flood waters.
The fifth fatality was a man whose body was found in the area of Redovan, some 50 kilometers southwest of the city of Alicante.
News of the latest death comes as acting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez travelled to the Murcia and Alicante regions this weekend to see the damage first hand and to show the governments commitment to the clean up efforts.
