THE CAPITAL OF MALAGA will host for the second time the Directed by Women Spain festival, the international film festival directed by women.

The film festival directed by women will tour the Spanish Capital Madrid and then Barcelona before its display at the Albéniz Cinema during the Malaga Festival, September 18 and 19.

Viewers will be able to enjoy two sessions of short films of approximately 70 minutes each in which all film genres have a place. Animation, documentary, comedy, drama, fantasy and experimental, horror and science fiction meet the objective of breaking taboos and prejudices and show a cinema directed by women.

Since its birth in 2015, more than 2,000 spectators have enjoyed a hundred films that have formed part of the festival’s catalogue. With an average of more than 250 different projects presented in each edition, Directed by Women Spain does not have sections or categories. It has no awards, nor distinctions. It is a non-competitive festival that is characterised by the technical and thematic diversity of the shorts and films of its programming and aims to be a meeting place and promotional platform giving more visibility to cinema directed by women.

Directed by Women Spain is a project founded and directed by the By Women cultural platform and is supported by the international Directed by Women movement.

Directed by Women Spain also gives the opportunity for viewers to participate in meetings, workshops and debates.
