Nurse assaulted In Clinico Hospital Malaga

A NURSE was insulted threatened and finally beaten by a patient in a casualty department. 

The incident happened at Malaga’s Hospital Clinico on Sunday and has led to renewed demands for more security. 

The Nurses Union (Satse), says that the aggressive patient “sowed panic”, so the SAS (Andalucian Health Service) aggression plan was activated. 

But it was too late for the victim who has had to take time off work to recover from the assault. 

Satse says such assaults are becoming more common and wants action from the hospital authorities to protect medical staff. 

It has also put out a plea to the public to respect nurses and doctors, warning that it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt. 

Doctors recently held demonstrations outside medical centres throughout Malaga province to protest at the rising levels of verbal and physical abuse they have to deal with.
