A MULTIPLE rapist who was due to be moved to a day release prison regime remains behind bars.

Juan Carlos G. R., known as the ‘multiple rapist of Malaga’ and sentenced to 271 years in prison for 24 sexual assaults, is approaching semi-freedom after 17 years behind bars.

All that remains is to know where he will enjoy the third grade prison regime granted to him by the Penitentiary Surveillance judge.

The Albolote prison (Granada), where he is being held, wants to make sure that when he is assigned a Social Integration Centre (CIS), the 2,000 metre restraining order that is in force for the next 15 years for 18 of his 24 victims is respected.

To do that they need to know where the 18 are presently living and working. Prison authorities are working to find this information out and only then will he be assigned a CIS.
