Fuengirola´s Mayor Ana Mula has announced that this year’s summer employment figures (for July and August 2019) shot up by 55.73 per cent, compared to the same period last year.

More than 183 contracts were offered to local job seekers applying through Fuengirola Town Hall´s official ‘employment exchange’, compared to just 81contracts in 2018. Fuengirola´s employment exchange advertises local jobs from private companies to adequately skilled locals.

More than 75per cent of the contracts offered were in the tourism sector, 8 per cent in construction and 2 per cent in technical and administrative posts. “Chefs, kitchen helpers, waiters, cleaners and construction workers were particularly in high demand during this year´s high tourist season,” confirmed Mula. Good social and sales skills were also highly sought after.

The Mayor said she wants to motivate local job hunters to use the Town Hall´s employment services (at the Tenecia de Alcaldia) based in Los Boliches in their job search. “I would also like to encourage local companies to use our employment services and support to find adequately qualified candidates for their job openings,” she added
