CLUB LLEBEIG combined a gymnastics championship with a collection for the Vega Baja flood victims.
The Llebeig Rhythmic Gymnastics Club was already hosting Teams and Individual championships events at the Teulada-Moraira sports centre and the club president Sandra Romero decided to use the occasion to help those whose homes and belongings had been affected by the catastrophe.
A total of 275 Valencian Community gymnasts as well as others from Murcia attended the event, together with their families and friends.
All were asked to bring with them Un Kilo Solidario (a Solidarity Kilo) which could then be sent on to other gyms for distribution in the Vega Baja.
Once the event was over, the sports centre remained open for a further three days between 5pm and 7pm so that Teulada-Moraira residents could also leave their donations.
Teulada-Moraira mayor Ana Vila attended the event and thanks to the town hall’s cooperation, a lorry has now set out with the 139 kilos of dry foodstuffs, 79 litres of dairy product,s 159 litres of water and 200 litres of bleach, ammonia and other cleaning items, two boxes of personal hygiene products, clothing and other essentials.
