MADRID’S regional government will class families with two children as a “familia numerosa.”
In Franco’s time a family with four or more children was officially recognised as large, entitling parents to cheaper transport, schooling and energy costs amongst other advantages.
This was later reduced to three and the Madrid Community government, now headed by Isabel Diaz Ayuso, announced that families with two children will now be entitled to cheaper DNI and passport fees, reductions on domestic services, longer periods of leave-of-absence for employees and travel discounts.
Alberto Reyero, the regional government’s Social Policies, Families and Birth Rate councillor, announced that the creation of a One-parent category bringing further concessions to those that they already receive.
