Uk National Health bosses have written to expats based in Spain across the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol to update them on arrangements regarding healthcare and pensions if the UK leaves the EU after Brexit on October 31.
Expats in Spain who have their healthcare paid for by Britain under the ‘S1’ scheme are being sent the correspondence; which also outlines arrangements for state pensions after Brexit – and warns the EHIC card may not cover health cover when travelling to other EU countries.
The letter is signed off by Michael Brodie who is the chief executive of the NHS Business Services Authority, and “provides important information about your access to healthcare” the Euro Weekly News understands.
