TRAGIC BEACH ACCIDENT: A woman dies on a beach in Torrox

A WOMAN has died after coming into trouble in the waters off the Costa del Sol yesterday afternoon.

The 112 Emergency Services have reported that a woman was rescued from the water by other bathers in the Playa del Cenicero, in the town of Torrox Malaga.

The alarm was given minutes after 14.30 hours as 112 received several calls from citizens indicating that some swimmers had rescued from the sea a woman with signs of drowning.

The Coordinating Centre immediately notified the Public Health Emergency Company (EPES), the Guardia Civil and the Local Police.

The Emergency Services and the Guardia Civil have confirmed the death of the woman, whose identification was unknown at the scene of the event.

No other information has been released by the authorities.

A routine investigation has been launched.
