The Mayor of Benalmadena, Victor Navas, said he’s making new rules to ensure the resort town becomes the cleanest town possible in Spain.
Those new rules are that dog owners in Benalmadena will have to carry a bottle of soapy water with them when they take their dogs out for walks, or they could get fined.
Navas was yesterday seen in the town handing out free bottles of water to people in Benalmadena, raising awareness of the new regulations.
“We live in a city with lots of sunny days. Urine dries quickly on public highways if it is not diluted, causing bad odours,” Navas said.
The new rule is aimed at preventing bad smells from dog urine on street pavements especially in the heat.
