Body of middle-aged woman found in Madrid park 

POLICE are investigating the mysterious death of a middle-aged woman after her body was found in a Madrid park on Sunday afternoon.  

A number of calls alerted the authorities to the appearance of the body of the 55-year old on a dirt track close to the lake in the Butarque park in the Leganes district of the city.  

The 112 emergency service reported there were signs of a severe facial injury and an injury to the neck. 

The woman was not from the area and was not registered in the VioGen system for assisting gender-based violence victims, according to Spanish press.
