Donation swells public library
EDUARD MIRA has donated his collection of 8,000 books to Javea’s public library.
Mira, whose childhood and adolescence were spent in Javea, has a doctorate in Geography and History and is a member of the Valencian Academy of Culture.
The 74-year-old thinker now lives in the house in the Duanes de la Mar port area that he inherited from his father and has been described as “an indispensable definer of Valencian culture.”
Javea town hall recently held an official reception in Miro’s honour that was attended by the Culture councillor Quico Moragues and the local mayor, Jose Chulvi, who thanked Miro for his generosity.
“The donation is extraordinarily valuable because it makes the working materials of a brilliant Valencian public and accessible,” Chulvi said.
“These thousands of volumes will be a very useful treasure for this town,” he added.
