Man Imprisoned For Bomb Threat At Jerez Train Station

The National Police have arrested a man in Jerez as alleged perpetrator of the crimes of serious threats and public disorder.

The incident occurred last October 10, at about 11:20 hours at the Jerez Train Station.
A man, currently unnamed, allegedly started shouting out “Bomb! Bomb!” and caused panic and distress amongst fellow passengers both on the platform and inside the offices of a nearby company, after giving a false bomb warning.

The individual shouted on the platforms, exclaiming that the train about to enter the platform was carrying a bomb that was going to explode imminently. Then, in a violent manner, he ripped the suitcase from the hands of one of the travellers, trying to force it on the ground with the intention of “searching” it.

Security guards quickly intercepted the man and conducted a preventive security search to make sure that he was not carrying any weapons and tried to detain him until the Police arrived. However he was able to escape, but was shortly arrested by National Police inside the offices of a nearby company.

He was taken to court and has been placed in pretrial detention.
