THE mayor of Torrox, Oscar Medina has met with Education Delegate, Mercedes Garcia Paine to put forward the town’s proposals.
During the meeting, Medina put forward the requests of his government to improve the education and social facilities in the town of Torrox. Among the requests was the reopening of the Day Stay Centre which had remained closed for the past 10 years.
The centre was built as part of a €600,000 investment by a previous government, however the last party in charge is accused of allowing its demise and subsequent deterioration thanks to its“negligence” towards the property and its facilities.
Medina also proposed that the IES Alfaguar will receive an extension to take the burden from the overcrowded IES Jorge Guillén for students to be able to study for their baccalaureate at both locations.
Paine has stressed that the new government aims to “listen to society, be present in the municipalities and show that we have a commitment to be on the field to know what are the real needs of municipalities to make the best decisions.”
