THE Capital of Axarquia, Velez Malaga, has turned pink this week to celebrate International Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Victor Gonzalez, councillor of Social Rights and Equality, along with representatives of Association of Women the with Breast Cancer of Axarquia ‘Hope’ announced the town’s plans for the special day on October 18.
Multiple activities and information points were organised in order to raise much needed awareness for screening and early preventative treatments of the disease.
“We want to add another year to the events of this day and support and accompany the Association Hope in all their claims aimed at improving the quality of life of patients and families,” explained Victor Gonzalez.
“We understand research as fundamental as any innovation that allows early diagnosis of this disease, and in that sense the administrations must support with all possible resources at our disposal to the associations and professionals who work daily with these people,”
Different activities will be taking place across the municipality throughout this month, including the 8th Walk of Hope which will leave Paseo de Andalucía on October 27.
