A BRITISH man, aged 19 has been arrested for falsely claiming to have been assaulted in an attempted car theft. He told police in Benidorm that two men had assaulted him at dawn, beaten him and stolen the keys of his car. But they quickly suspected the young man of making the story up. They said he had “certain contradictions” in his story and after viewing video from security cameras, their suspicions were confirmed, say police. They allege that the complainant had some kind of “mishap” with his vehicle during the early morning, and instead of taking responsibility for what happened, decided to denounce having been approached and beaten by two men with the intention of snatching his vehicle. He has now been arrested on suspicion of falsifying a crime.
