Medal for officer 

A MARBELLA local policeman had been awarded the Order of Merit by the Guardia Civil for his arrest of a suspected murderer. 

Francisco Jesús Peral Guzman spotted the man  – who was suspected of murdering his partner in La Viñuela – driving through Marbella. 

After reporting to a senior officer, he followed the suspect before finally arresting him with the help of fellow officers. The detainee is alleged to have stabbed his girlfriend 30 times. 

He was presented with his award at Marbella Town Hall. Mayor Angeles Muñoz said: “It is a very deserved decoration that is a source of pride for the city of Marbella and for the entire municipal body.”
