AROUND 700 students from schools around Rincon de la Victoria have taken part in road safety courses throughout October.

The courses have been organised by the Local Police force and are aimed at teaching children aged between eight and ten the importance of road safety.

The courses will be run three days a week in ten schools in the municipality, with the first course being held at the CEIP Professor Tierno Galvan de Rincon de la Victoria.

The courses are designed to give children a greater understanding of potential situations involved with road use, both as a pedestrian and as a future driver or bike rider.

Councillor for Public Safety, Borja Ortiz (PP) explained that “the importance of taking into account the basic knowledge on road safety rules, improving habits and attitudes to ensure safer journeys on public roads is invaluable.”

Mayor of Rincon, Francisco Salado (PP), stressed “the work of the Local Police in schools through this Road Safety Education Plan considered as a reference at the provincial level.”

Students will also be able to travel to additional practical classes involving role playing, activities and simulations which will take place, as in previous years, at the Colegio La Marina in May 2020.
