A DELEGATION from Lescar in France which has been twinned with Alfaz for 34 years, is currently in town.
The 40-strong party headed by Lescar’s mayor Christian Laine visited the town hall where they were received by Alfaz’s mayor Vicente Arques, and Martine Mertens and Dolores Albero, respective councillors for Residents and Education.
Welcoming them in the Council Chamber, Arques thanked the party for participating in different local events, including the 22nd edition of Alfaz’s International Day,
Lescar is Alfaz’s only twinned town and the local government stressed its intention of continuing to maintain a link that is positive for both parties, and for many years, Arques stressed.
During the Lescar delegation’s time in Alfaz, the mayor accompanied them to the town’s principal tourist attractions.
These included the Villa Romana open-air museum, the Sierra Helada national park and the Faro de l’Albir which, although it still a working lighthouse that advises shipping, is also an informal museum.
