NATIONAL Police have arrested five people in Granada in connection with an alleged fraud against the Treasury and Social Security.

It is said the criminals, aged between 25 and 59, signed false labour contractsas a means of receiving subsidies and contributory pensions for an amount exceeding 100,000.

Reports state that fake work contracts were issued naming the accused parties as employees of a leisure company with a registered office in Granada.

They then managed to arrange the use of the access codes necessary to set up Social Security detailsthrough the help of another accomplice.

The police investigation began following a complaint by the Fiscal Ministry after a technical report from the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate of Granada.

The five detainees have already been charged while a sixth person, residing in Malaga, is still under investigation.
