Fatal accident in Torrox

EMERGENCY services were called to a serious road collision on the A-7207 on Saturday morning which has claimed the life of one occupant and injured another.

Police reports indicate the accident involved the head on collision between two cars at around kilometre 19 of the A-7207 highway that connects Torrox Costa and the Pueblo.

Emergency units from the Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, Firefighters and health services arrived at the scene and fire fighters had to cut one of the occupants, A Torrox resident, out of the vehicle who was then transferred to the Regional Hospital of La Axarquía where he remains in a serious condition.

Unfortunately the collision resulted in a 46 year old Ukranian citizen loosing his life as a result of his injuries.

The Guardia Civil have taken over the investigation into the cause of the accident but it is thought the rain and reduced grip had played a part.
