THE lighting at Adra’s Miramar stadium is scheduled to go greener.
Mayor Manuel Cortes has now signed the contract for the installation of LED technology lights at the football ground, which is due to be completed by the end of this month.
The cost of the change will be more than €62,000.
Cortes described the investment as “very important for the locality, not only for the conditions of the stadium, which is going to substantially improve in terms of lighting, but also for the energy saving which using LED technology is going to mean, in this way respecting the environment more.”
The Mayor pointed out the stadium is used every day of the week, for both training and matches, “hence the young people who use these facilities will be able to continue practicing sport with better light conditions.”
The council is also due to carry out an energy efficiency study on nearly 20 municipal buildings with the aim of implementing measures to lower consumption and protect the environment.
