ANTONIO IVARS LLOBELL, a Teulada-Moaira Policía Local officer has been singled out for special award.
He received the Felicitacion Publica medal at a formal ceremony held in the Monasterio del Puig in Valencia for risking his own life to save a swimmer.
In the early hours of the morning last August, Ivars Llobell went to the aid of a young Briton, who was clinging to a buoy 400 metres from the Club Nautico in Moraira.
In an action “above and beyond the call of duty” he swam out to the aid of the young man, the town hall told the regional government’s Interior department, requesting official recognition of the officer’s bravery.
