‘Sex attacker’ knifed by victim in Murcia

A MAN who allegedly raped a young woman ended up needing medical attention when the victim slashed him with a knife.

A 23-year-old woman called police at 9.30 am on Sunday to an address in the Murcian town of Cobatillas.

The woman said she had been raped. On arrival police found a 37-year-old man bleeding heavily from a hand wound, apparently caused when the woman defended herself with a knife.

The man was treated at the scene for the non-life-threatening injury, requiring stiches, before he was arrested by Guardia Civil and taken to the force’s station.

Police say that the woman was taken to the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital in Murcia, where an examination indicated she had been sexually assaulted.

The alleged attacker claims sex was consensual and that she made up the claim as she has a boyfriend.
