TORROX is to host a 12-hour long futsal indoor football event in an effort to raise awareness of the sport amongst local residents.
The sports event, as been organised by Atlético Torroxeño – which usually runs outdoor football teams and athletics teams – in collaboration with the town council with not just spreading the word about the sport, but also with the aim of opening a futsal school in the future.
The 12 hour tournament will be held on December 28, taking advantage of the Christmas break in the normal futsal fixtures.
There will be prizes of €600 and €300 for the first and second placed teams. The organisers of the event will also give shirts to each player of teams that are not fully equipped.
The tournament is open to all types of participants and teams who want to register. Organisers explained that although they have contacted federated teams they welcome any teams who want to play, with a minimum of 12 teams needed on the day.
Teams must have a maximum of 10 players and the limit to register will be Friday, December 13.
A euro from each player to register will be given to a local charity.
