NEW TURF: Municipal pitch is safer for players Photo credit: Teulada-Moraira town hall
NEW TURF has been installed at one of the football pitches at the Les Sorts municipal sports centre in Moraira. The pitch was in a bad condition and after several players suffered falls and injuries, the town hall decided it was safer to replace the artificial turf, Sports councillor Adrian Ruiz explained. Removing the old material, levelling and refilling the sand and rubber underlay before installing the new turf and marking out the pitch took only 10 days, Ruiz said. As well as improving performance, the new synthetic turf is more environmentally friendly and safer, the councillor added. “Safety is essential in sport and we are working hard to maintain or change all zones that are in bad condition,” Ruiz said.
