Exploring diversity

TORREMOLINOS is to hold guided tours of Begoña Passage a zone famous in the LGTBI community to convey the importance of respecting diversity and focus on tolerance and coexistence.

Begoña Passage was an area where gay clubs, flamenco bars and family restaurants coexisted until the seventies. However, in 1971 police closed and fined several premises alleging violations against public morality. The raid was followed by further police actions that damaged the economy of Torremolinosand also was seen as an attack on the sexual freedom of the sixties.

Organised by the Town Council and Begoña Passage Association, the tours are aimed at students and members of different social groups.
