SUSPECTS: The father and the son are being held in prison on charges of attempted manslaughter
GUARDIA Civil arrested a married couple and their son over an attempt to kill a man by stabbing him to death in Sax in Alicante, Spanish press reported.
The 43-year old victim was left in hospital in Elda recovering from 11 stab wounds following the attack at his home.
The Guardia Civil reportedly found the man lying on the floor with cuts and multiple bruises on his body after a call was put through to the emergency services. They arrested two of the suspected aggressors, the 55-year father and his 21-year son, at the scene.
Evidence gathered from the crime scene included a scabbard and a bullet, pointing to the use of a gun in the fight. Investigators also found the stick believed to have been used for the beating, a knife and two machetes.
The third person suspected of involvement in the attack, the 54-year old wife and mother of the other two, allegedly fled the scene as soon as the Guardia arrived. She was subsequently detained.
The father and the son are being held in prison on charges of attempted manslaughter. The woman was released with charges.
