One of last year’s performances
SATURDAY November 30 sees the start at 4.30pm of the 46th Altea International Music Contest which is being held at the Palau de Altea.
This year, there are two orchestras from Portugal represented by the Musical Society of Pevidém, directed by Vasco Silva de Faria and the Sopros Orchestra of the Chaves Academy of Arts, directed by Luciano Pereira.
Also competing will be the Unió Musical de Llíria from Valencia, directed by Pablo Marques Mestre and the closing performance will feature the Symphonic Band of the Societat Filharmònica Alteanense, directed by Jaime Ripoll Martins.
Tickets for this popular annual event cost €10 from the venue and can be reserved by calling 966 881 924.

Married to Ophelia in Gibraltar in 1978, John has spent much of his life travelling on security print and minting business and visited every continent except Antarctica.
