A multiple rush hour collision involving two trucks, several cars and a crane on the A-7 at Paterna resulted in several people injured and 17 km of traffic jams.
The emergency services were out in force in to treat the injured and cut one person out of a car. The central and right lanes of the road were closed, with traffic jams reaching Puçol.
The accident happened around 8 am today, November 19.
The Emergency Information and Coordination Centre said it dispatched a SAMU unit and an SVB unit to the scene, while ambulances treated a 47-year-old man with head and leg injuries who was transferred to the University Hospital of Valencia.
Three men aged 30, 40 and 50 years and a woman of 34 were transferred to the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital, while a 69-year-old man was treated at the scene.
The Directorate General of Traffic to the Provinces said that drivers slowing down to look at the pile up contributed to the traffic jams.
