A GUARDIA Civil dog handler has been disciplined for working as an animal trainer in his spare time.
The Supreme Court has ratified a sanction of four months unpaid suspension for the officer, who was involved in running his wife’s kennels in Torremolinos.
In March 2012, the Ministry of the Interior denied the agent’s request to be able to carry out this private activity without contravening the incompatibility regulations.
Members of the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Guardia Civil inspected the kennels after a complaint by the PACMA animal rights party in September 2015. They found that the officer was acting “as a dog trainer and also appearing as the director of the kennels on the website of the National Association of Professional Dog Trainers.”
