JAVEA once again demonstrated its commitment to the fight against cancer with 200 people taking part in the Moonlight Walk last week.
Organised by Cancer Care Javea, the walk, which had a €3 entry fee, raised €1,841 for Lynwen’s Cancer Care Nursing and Advisory Service, with other donations from sponsors to follow.
All the monies raised from the event were a tribute to Lynwen, Cancer Care Javea’s former president who died earlier this year.
The five-kilometre walk on November 12 set out at 7pm from the Parador Hotel, continuing along the seafront to the fish market and the port and then returning.
“The atmosphere as terrific,” the organisers said, “and we were so lucky to have a beautiful full moon and clear skies.”
Rita Berruti, councillor responsible for Health and Social Services at Javea town hall, also took part in the walk.
She thanked Cancer Care Javea for organising the Moonlight Walk and for the great help and support the charity provides for those affected by cancer and its contribution towards research.
