A FUGITIVE who killed a man in an axe attack at a refugee shelter in Germany has been arrested in Barcelona.
The arrested man was wanted for events that occurred last year in the city of Bad Homburg vor der Höhe. He is said to have hit a compatriot several times over the head and in throat with an axe.
Thanks to international cooperation police specialising in tracking down fugitives learned that the alleged perpetrator had travelled to Spain several months after the events.
Spain’s National police then traced him to a restaurant in the Catalan city , where he worked.
Police inspected the premises and found the man was using an assumed identity. A search eventually found him hiding on the floor of a store room.
Police say the fugitive faces 15 years for homicide.
