ASSAULT: A 94-year-old woman was raped at La Bonanova residential home in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
THE trial is underway for a 27-year-old man accused of raping a 94-year old woman at a residential home in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The incident came to light in September, when the elderly woman confided in a friend that one of her caretakers had sexually assaulted her. This information was passed on to managers at La Bonanova residential home, who fired the man, but did not report the incident to the police. A few days later, the man went to Son Llàtzer hospital, telling psychiatric doctors that he had done “very bad things to a woman”. Officers from the Family and Women Unit (UFAM) were immediately notified, sending officers to the hospital to arrest the man. The man has denied raping the elderly woman, only admitting that he “masturbated on top of her when he was changing her clothes”. We at Euro Weekly News understand that the defendant began working at La Bonanova at the end of December 2018 alongside his mother and sister who have now been placed on leave.
