A FORMER geography teacher has been jailed for five years for sexually abusing pupils at a private prep school in north-west London, England.
An investigation found that Richard Gaines lured young boys into his storage cupboard at St Martin’s School in Northwood, London under the pretence that it was an ‘informal sex education lesson’ which would give them a chance to see his pornography collection.
He told the pupils to come to his classroom in the evenings or at weekends, where he would then show them magazines of naked women.
The court heard that Gaines sometimes had more than one boy in the cupboard at a time and often urged them to undress and perform sexual acts on each other while he exposed himself.
During his trial, Gaines admitted to Isleworth Crown Court that he had sexually abused six boys over five years during the 1970s, pleading guilty to seven charges of gross indecency with a child.
We at Euro Weekly News understand that Gaines went on to become a Christian lay minister and NHS volunteer.
After a guilty verdict, Judge Edward Connell sentenced Gaines to five years and two months in jail.
