A number of police officers have been assaulted after a mass brawl at a Birmingham cinema.

Officers were called to an entertainment complex known as Star City in the Nechells area.
The brawl took place just after 5.30pm on Saturday following up on a distress999 emergency call that a group of youths with machetes had arrived to the cinema complex.
Being a Saturday evening the Cinema complex was full of cinema goers.
More than 250 members of the public were at the cinema and had to be evacuated as the area of Birmingham was put on lock down by police.
West Midlands Police said in a statement.” “pockets of fighting” broke out as officers tried to clear the area.
Witnesses at the scene reported how the West Midlands Police ordered everyone to leave the cinema complex as they all armed up with Taser guns ands a large army of Police dogs.
Police also put dispersal order is in place, meaning officers could arrest anyone who refused to leave when asked.
When the Police discovered machetes were the main weapon being carried – Armed Police units were called to the scene.
Many arrests were made whilst many officers were injured attempting to cease the incident.
