ATTEMPTED MURDER: A woman has been set on fire in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
A MAN has intentionally set fire to a woman in a park in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
The horrific incident took place around 10am this morning (November 26) in Son Peretó park in the capital. The Local Police report that a man approached the woman, who was sitting at a bench near to the playground at the time, covering her with a flammable liquid and setting it on fire. He then fled from the scene after the attack.
Several residents witnessed the incident, immediately calling the 112 emergency services, where an ambulance and units from the Local Police then rushed to the scene.
The woman, who is believed to be in her 60s, has been taken to Son Espases Hospital where it is reported that she has 60% burns to her body and is in a critical condition.
The Local Police immediately organised a search of the neighbourhood to try and locate the perpetrator, who witnesses describe as a man in his 50s wearing a dark grey jacket with stained hands. Officers believe that he may have changed clothes as have subsequently found a dark jacket lying on the ground near to the area of the crime.
The National Police are now leading the investigation and are treating the event as a possible attempted murder. We at Euro Weekly News understand that officers suspect that the perpetrator is the victim’s partner.
