NEWS IN SPAIN: Woman missing after meeting man on dating site in Spain

POLICE are appealing for information on the whereabouts of 25-year-old Marta Calvo Burón who was last seen in the town of Manuel in Valencia, Spain on November 7.

Officers have opened an investigation to try and determine what has happened to the missing woman after she left her mother’s house to go on a date with a man she had met on a dating site.

Marta sent her location to her mother through WhatsApp at 5.55am, which police believe may have been out of fear.

Distressed that her daughter did not respond to her calls or messages the next day, Marta’s mother went to the location which was sent to her phone, asking several residents if they had seen Marta. She then filed a report at the police station expressing her concern.

Days after the disappearance, the Guardia Civil conducted searches in the area with the help of sniffer dogs and a helicopter alongside members of the Homicide, Kidnapping and Extortion Unit who are reinforcing the investigation.

Police are also tracking the missing woman’s last movements through data provided from her mobile phone, which last placed her inside the home of the man she went on a date with, who has now fled.

Once identifying the man, a search was conducted at his house, with police reporting that it had been thoroughly cleaned with bleach. His car was also missing from outside the property, with officers later finding it abandoned in the town.

The suspect is described as being a young Colombian man with a police record, who has dark hair and wears glasses.

Marta is described as being 1.65m tall, of slim build, with brown eyes and brown hair.

We at Euro Weekly News understand that the community are extremely distressed about Marta’s disappearance.
